Expanding the visibility of your WordPress site leveraging technology and social media.
Social Media. As if getting through your web presencing experience wasn’t harrowing enough.
The thing with technology is… there’s always more. More. More. More. So you probably feel even more behind and like you have further to go now, then you did before, when you only needed a uniquely-you custom designed WordPress website.
But let’s flip it. Cuz, I’m optimystical like that.
The thing with technology is… if it wants to continue to grow and expand into more, more, more… it must become easy, easy, easier or else, no body will come to the party.
It’s 2010. Another day in a new economy. The one we are in the midst of redefining and rebuilding as we go.
The Internet has become an everyday tool. It certainly doesn’t appear to be going anywhere (as in going away) and instead is opening up our views and perspectives, making things from across the planet appear instantly in a web browser.
When we need something (directions, find the new book we want to read, even to hire someone for something), we usually head straight away over to Google.
I tell my clients incessantly, “Google is your friend!” and I can generally find just about anything I need or want with Google’s powerful search engine.
Social web moment. Did you meet someone you used to only know from her blog? Did you discover Twitter?
Twitter has been wonderful in many ways this year. It’s helped to expand myself and create connection to others I would not have otherwise had the opportunity to create (however, it’s really hard to say for sure when and how we meet people in life).
My top Twitter moments include when @MarkHeartofBiz picked up the phone and called me after tweeting “Ole! Ole! Ole!” (Elizabeth Gilbert speaking at TED)… That was fun.
Or discovering this blog challenge, about writing and gratitude. Thank you Gwen Bell.
Best of ’09 is a series of posts inspired by Gwen Bell’s The Best of 09 Blog Challenge. It’s a challenge designed to help me write more and rediscover more grateful moments in my 2009! Hopefully, 31 posts in 31 days ;)
Best of ’09 Blog. That gem of a blog you can’t believe you didn’t know about until this year.
The gem. That I didn’t know about until 8 days ago…
So there I was, winding up another Thanksgiving holiday. This one I had the wonderful blessing of being knocked on my butt by a nasty flu, cold-thing.
So many of us woke up this morning to a big surprise… a denial of service attack on Twitter, not to mention various other forms of social media experiencing technical difficulties such as Facebook.
For those of you who aren’t social media mavens, you are likely not to even be reading this. If you are, then you know the heart palpitations you experienced when you realized Twitter was down, and down for some time!
So aside from my own personal processing about what it felt like “not to be connected” to a universe that supports me so much, after Facebook & Twitter finally came back online, I found it curious to see what others were saying about it.
