Music That Saves Me

Music That Saves Me

July 18, 2012

My music playlist for the bi-weekly trips to chemotheraphy. I have a category just for music on my blog because that’s how much I love it. And it does save me every time.

A song can be timely even when it’s not popular. I love artists with rich lyrical content. I love music that helps me say what I need to say or have been unable to say until I hear the song.

Many of these songs are about rallying my own personal troops of positivity. I imagine all the people in my life who love me and are routing for me stomping their feet to Gwen Stefani’s Holla Back Girl when she sings “fire it up!”

Gonna Give You My Love

July 28, 2011

Monday night at the Hollywood Bowl, one thing I heard over and over from all three musical artists was about living your dreams.

That they were living theirs. And to believe in my own.

Dreams are meant to be lived. Abraham says that if we can desire it, the Universe can produce it.

The economic downturn that began almost immediately after I jumped the Corporate-America ship taught me about what I really need to be happy.

Even after many of us lost so much, we are still here. Some have decidedly learned how to be happy, despite those losses. Some are still stuck in the fear and scarcity that there isn’t enough to go around.

A Swarm Becoming Thunder

New towel? Anyone? Any… one?

Lately, I’ve been wondering, if I’m where I’m supposed to be. But this isn’t the usual twice-yearly big question-of-self-doubt perking its head up. No, it’s not that.

Usually, these self-doubty questions help me re-affirm my desire for being here. On the great big WWW, doing my entrepreneur thing. Showing up everyday, tap-tap-tapping away on this Toshiba laptop of mine… writing posts, writing code, designing art and basically helping others follow their own dream.

Not that I’m way ahead of you. Really I’m not. Especially if this morning, I’m thinking of throwing in the towel on all of it.

Nicki Minaj bringin’ it to this Music That Saves Me morning.

Now. Now. Now. It’s all we got. This moment.

Greatness is what we’re on the brink of… I’m taking mine. It’s time.

Stepping into this moment. Into my now.

Are you listening to your moment? To your now?

I heard mine loud & clear this morning…

I fly with the stars in the skies
I am no longer trying to survive
I believe that life is a prize
But to live doesn’t mean you’re alive…

my birthday wish for every one

It’s Easter Sunday. And my 42nd birthday.

I keep smiling at that. Imbuing all sorts of meaning into it.

Today, is my re-birth day. I got up with Jesus, high-fiving me on his way out of this cave I’ve been living in.

Every day is a rebirth for all of us. In every moment lies the opportunity to rethink something and be reborn. To rise from under the albatross, the heaviness in our souls we carry when we’ve forgotten we are nothing less than perfectly whole & complete. Trust the empty dark void that any thought other than this brings; It is your Light.

Business & Alignment

March 7, 2011

A lot shifts, when you begin focusing on your alignment.

Most times, those shifts are not the ones I expect. Or daydream of. They’re usually beyond what I could imagine dreaming on my own.

My 40-day-alignment series has concluded. I challenged myself to show up more. Here on my blog. To write and share more. I guess to show up more in my life really… when I even thought to choose Alignment as my word for 2011.

40-Days was me, on a major run at getting in alignment. Making it my #1 priority. The best I could. Over “approximately” 40-days-or-so.

Little Wonders

February 16, 2011

When you feel awesome, milk it. Line up all the blessings you can and count each little wonder tenderly!

When you feel awful, acknowledge it. When you feel like you have nothing else, if you look, Gratitude is still here. Helping you to remember, every “right here and now” becomes a “that was then.”

Go to gratitude. Any way, shape or form of it. Just find a way to get there.

Take a walk and look for things to appreciate (it’s what saved me from a window ledge once). Look for something in your life you love that you already have. Go back in time to a memory that brought you amazing joy and re-experience it again.

Farewell Twenty Ten

December 31, 2010

Someday, Rob Thomas

Cause sometimes we don’t really notice
Just how good it can get

So maybe we should start all over
Start all over again…

[This is a video post, so you might need to click through if you’re reading this via email or RSS.]

You can go
You can start all over again
You can try to find a way to make another day go by
You can hide
Hold all your feelings inside
You can try to carry on when all you want to do is cry

A group of family & friends are gathering today to join together in witnessing and blessing the marriage between these two. A very happy Music That Saves Me Friday.

For Lorie & Tim.

Diamond In The Rough, Shawn Colvin

As a little girl I came down to the water
With a little stone in my hand
It would shimmer and sing
And we knew everything
As a little girl I came down
