You know what an extension is… you might not think you know, but you do.

A browser extension is a way of extending the functionality of your web browser by downloading a special tool that helps make your digital life a bit easier (yay, easy!)

These handy-dandies below are a few that I just cannot live without. They get Easy awards. And my appreciation and thanks so that more easy flows my way!

Xmarks – Sync and backup your browser bookmarks

I use bookmarks incessantly for ease in my digital life. The two biggest ways Xmarks has helped me in the past is when I got a new computer and when I switched the primary browser I use.

Think about it a sec… you get a brand new laptop and you open your favorite browser on it and realize none of your bookmarks are there…

Install Xmarks on each computer you use, and it seamlessly integrates with your web browser and keeps your bookmarks safely backed up and in sync. Xmarks will sync across browsers too. Today it supports Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari (Mac OS).

Ok what can I say… I use three different browsers for web designing. Kinda have to. Xmarks saves my butt here plus automatically back-ups my bookmarks (take that Mercury Retrograde!)

Roboform – Easy and secure password manager

Time is energy! If I can help myself save time, I save energy… or can focus my energy somewhere of my choosing (focused choice is another way to say alignment, which I cannot resist telling you about since I’ve just started my own alignment gig for 2011 that I’ll be doing for the next 40-days-or-so. Come see, won’t you?)

Anyway, back to saving time and energy and my passwords, every single one of them, so I never have to remember one again. And, oh this is a good one, saving my client’s passwords… cuz I gots lots aya and I like keepin’ it all straight. That’s what a technology wiz does!

Remember your passwords, log into web sites and fill your forms with one-click. Another Easy award winner here.

Wisestamp – Put your email signature to work for you

Email. It’s such a powerful form of communication in today’s digital life. We get inbox overwhelm (rescue remedy: check out Charlie Gilkey’s Email Triage), because for many of us, our Inbox is kinda running the show. I know it is for me.

It’s where I hear from my favorite people! It’s where I connect with you. Email is a vital part of my daily digital experience. Of our daily experience.

Wisestamp is a way for me to leverage and extend my own email communications and be more effective in the relationship building I do everyday with email.

Very simply, Wisestamp helps promote the things I care about (like my last blog post, or how to find me on Twitter and Facebook) in an easy-to-customize email signature that works with many popular web email providers like Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail.

I use it with my Gmail account to help me do a better job of reaching out to you! Wisestamp makes marketing my shizzle in my email signature easy. Uh huh uh huh uh huh… another Easy award weiner, yay!

That’s a wrap my pretties.

I would love to hear from you if you decide to try one of these browser extensions. If you’ve found this post helpful, I would so appreciate your kind retweets or shares using the buttons below.    xomm.
